Please Support Us by Joining Meijer Community Rewards!

Meijer Community Rewards allows us to raise funds to meet our organization’s goals quickly and easily. Here’s how you can participate. We need you, our supporter, to join Meijer Community Rewards. It’s free and can be done:

The rewards card can only be used with cash or your debit card (pin based debit card) or your Meijers credit card. However you must show your Meijer rewards card at the time of the purchase.

You can also link your Meijer credit card with your Meijer rewards card. If you already have a Meijer Credit Card, just call 1-800-962-7011 to add Meijer Community Rewards to your Meijer Credit Card account. 5. Gift of stocks/mutual funds/bonds/certificates

Transferring stock, mutual funds, bonds and/or certificates to KCE provide considerable tax advantages. If you hold your securities for more than one year, you may find that your gift will provide a twofold tax benefit, creating an income-tax deduction as well as helping avoid the capital-gains tax that would have been due on their sale.

6. Gift of real-estate/personal property

Transferring personal residences, second homes, income property, and vacant land offers a wide variety of tax and other benefits. You can also provide gifts of personal property that include rare books, works of art, valuable collectibles, and tangible items of demonstrable value which in some cases may enable you to make a significant gift to support KCE with outstanding tax benefits to you. Gifts of intangible personal property, such as copyrights, patents, and mineral rights, can generate income for the program of your choice on a continuing basis.

7. Support us with your planned giving efforts

Please contact our offices if you are interested in our planned giving efforts. We encourage you to contact your financial planner and accountant regarding the following planned giving options:

Bequest

• You can bequeath a sum of money, specified personal or real property, or a share of your estate’s residue in the following ways:

• Your gift can be contingent. That is, you can provide that the money, property or share is to go to some individual if that person survives you; otherwise, it’s to be distributed to KCE.

• You can create a trust for a relative’s benefit, assuring the availability of income and principal for that person’s support and comfort, and name KCE to receive whatever is left when the trust terminates.

• For greater tax savings, you can establish a charitable remainder trust that will pay an income for life to the individual of your choice and the remaining principal to KCE.

• We generally prefer gifts without limits on their use KCE we can apply them to our most urgent needs. But you have every right to restrict your bequest by directing how you want it used or allowing KCE to expend only the income from your gift. If you want to designate a specific purpose, we need you to consult KCE in advance to make certain we’ll be able to carry out your wishes.

• You can make your bequest in memory of yourself or a loved one. We’ll be pleased to honor your intent, and we have many ways to grant appropriate recognition.

Charitable Gift Annuities

A gift annuity is a simple, contractual agreement between a donor and KCE which you give assets to KCE in exchange for our promise to pay one or two annuitants payments for life.

Charitable Remainder Trust

When you create a charitable remainder trust, you give money, securities or other assets to a trust you create that will then pay you an income for life or for a period of years (not to exceed 20). If you wish, the trust also can pay an income to other beneficiaries of your choice. At the death of the final beneficiary, the remaining balance in the trust goes to KCE.

Memorials and Endowments

You can make a gift to us in your name or in the name of a loved one while realizing tax benefits for your kindness. Memorials and endowments are a donation of funds to a charitable organization, like KCE to provide an ongoing source of income for the care or financing of a concern that’s close to your heart. Another way to fund an endowment is through a foundation, either your own or an existing one.

Give My Home but Live There for Life

You make a contributing of a retained life estate by donating the gift of your home to KCE even while you are still living in it, and even if you want your spouse or other survivor to live there for life. You can receive sizable tax benefits now and continue living in your home for the rest of your life.

Donor Advised Funds

With a Door Advised Fund you have access the giving power of a private foundation without the expense or complexity. You can recommend how your donation will be managed and distributed, while avoiding the expense and regulation of a family foundation; the gift must be “complete,” meaning you relinquish control. Thus, the donor may have the privilege of making recommendations as to how the money is invested and distributed, but KCE makes the final decisions.

Charitable Lead Trusts

The charitable lead trust is a trust that the estate owner establishes either during life (an inter vivos trust) or at death (a testamentary trust). The income from the trust flows to a charitable organization, like KCE, typically for a stated number of years. After that period, the assets inside the trust are then distributed. This trust helps reduce the tax burden for your heirs in the future.
